Part-time Police Advocate

The Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois is seeking a part-time, 20-hour per week, Police Advocate. This position is responsible for providing services to victims of domestic violence and their children including support, advocacy, information and referrals and other services designed to enhance the safety of victims. In addition, the position is responsible for assisting police officers who respond to domestic violence victims by providing support and information, as well as supporting and enhancing the efforts of the police department.Position is also responsible for representing the agency at related community events/meetings and assisting with outreach.
 
Position is based in our Belleville Office and works primarily with the Belleville Police Department. Position requires some flexibility in day/time requirements to meet the demands of the position, including occasional evening/weekend hours required. Starting salary: $12-$14 per hour.
 
BA/BS plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, counseling/advocacy training and experience, ability to work with diverse populations, ability to work independently and demonstrated commitment to ending violence against women required.

East St. Louis Advocate
 
 The Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois is seeking a full-time, 40-hour per week, Advocate to operate our East St. Louis Office. This position is responsible for providing services to victims of domestic violence and their children including legal advocacy and assistance with filing for orders of protection, individual counseling, information, referrals and support. Position is also responsible for representing the agency at related community events/meetings and assisting with outreach.
 
Position works with clients throughout the East St. Louis area including St. Clair County Court, but is based in our East St. Louis, Illinois office. Regular schedule is Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm, but requires some flexibility in day/time requirements to meet the demands of the position, including occasional evening/weekend hours. Starting salary: $12-$14 per hour.
 
A minimum of 4 years of related education/experience is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, counseling/advocacy training and experience, ability to work with diverse populations, ability to work independently and a commitment to ending domestic violence is also required.

Child and Family Advocate
 
 
The Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois is seeking a full-time, 40-hour per week, Child and Family Advocate. This position is responsible for providing services to victims of domestic violence and their children residing in the emergency shelter. Services include intake, assessment, individual and group counseling, advocacy, information, referrals and support. Position is also responsible for representing the agency at related community events/meetings and assisting with outreach/fundraising efforts.
 
Position requires some flexibility in day/time requirements to meet the demands of the position, including two evenings per week. Starting salary: $25,000-30,000 per year.
 
BA/BS plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience required. Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, or closely related field preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills, counseling/advocacy training and experience, ability to work with diverse populations, ability to work independently and demonstrated commitment to ending violence against women required.
